MKTHINK CREATES OCEAN PLANT
Walking the Talk Where San Francisco Meets the Pacific Ocean
RICHMOND EDGE, SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, September 30th, 2022 – MKThink put its ideas into action by creating a neighborhood-based community commercial center and putting themselves in it.
The result is Ocean Plant. Located at 800 Great Highway overlooking Ocean Beach, the site is the westernmost commercial space in San Francisco.
"We realized that our vision for the future of our practice included a return to in-person engagement and interaction," says Nate Goore, AIA, CEO of MKThink. "We needed to create an environment that inspires discussion, debate, and critique -- the core of a practice with an authentic commitment to architecture and consulting services."
"Ocean Plant will provide an intelligent and thoughtful place for community-based, blue-economy companies at the physical edge of the built environment, where human and environmental interaction is the most raw and real. The vision is to extend our experience and resources to create a better place by example and share this place with partners and neighbors," noted Mark Miller, FAIA, a Principal at MKThink and part of the team behind Ocean Plant's realization.
Ocean Plant is where urban meets rural, land meets sea, digital meets analog, scarce resource meets high demand, and old meets new. In addition to MKThink, Ocean Plant will host RoundhouseOne (specialists in environmental intelligence), Andytown Coffee Roasters, the Ocean Plant nature store, an event-based community space, and other locally-focused product partners.
